Quote Register

FAQs about quotes, accepted work and how future opportunities contribute to planning and forecasting.

  1. What is the Quote Register?
The Quote Register provides visibility of future sales opportunities and helps you understand what work may contribute to future business activity.

  2. Why are Quotes important?
Quotes can help businesses understand future opportunities before work has been scheduled or delivered.

This provides additional visibility when planning future workload, revenue and cashflow.

  3. Do Quotes contribute to forecasting?
Quotes provide visibility of future opportunities.

Once accepted and linked to a work, scheduling information can contribute to future forecasting through Work in Progress (WIP).

  4. What happens when a quote is accepted?
Accepting a quote connects the agreed work to Work in Progress.

The accepted quote creates a work record, allowing future scheduling and forecasting activities to occur through the work record.

  5. What's the difference between a quote and a work record?
A quote represents a potential opportunity.

A work record represents planned or accepted work and can contribute to forecasting through milestone scheduling.

  6. Why doesn't make quote appear in Work in Progress?
    Check:
       -   The quote has been accepted
       -   The quote has been linked to a work record
       -   The associated work record exists
       -   The work schedule has been configured correctly

  7. Why doesn't my quote value match my forecast?

Forecast timing is driven by the linked work schedule and milestones, not the quote value alone.

A quote value may differ from forecast values if work has been scheduled across multiple future periods.

  8. Can I edit quote information inside BCB?
This depends on where the quote originated.

Where quote information is controlled by an integration, updates should be made within the source system and then synced into BCB

  9. How do quotes become forecast amounts?

Quotes become forecast contributors through being converted into a work item and scheduled milestones.

Milestones help determine when expected income and costs are forecast to occur.

  10. How can I improve quote forecasting accuracy?
    To improve quote forecasting:
       -   Keep quote statuses up to date
       -   Review accepted work regularly
       -   Maintain accurate milestone schedules
       -   Sync connected systems frequently
       -   Review linked work records
